Meet Karla

While the work often gets all of the attention, we at RSE know that the true value of our agency is in the people that make it run. Through our regular series of interviews, we hope to introduce you to the women and men behind the billboards and press releases. This week: Karla Fung.

Name:  Karla Fung
Title:  Social Media & Community Coordinator…Tweeter…Blogger person. Depends on who you ask.

What you wish your title was: Professional Friend or The Contest Winner

What we think your title should be:

  • Will: Resident Hipster
  • Emily: Rule-Following Social Scalawag
  • Phil: The Queen
  • Chris: Fastest Mouth in the West

Background: Event planning, marketing and aggressive typing (And winning free things).

Years at RSE: 2 years, 3 months.

Accounts you work on: A huge variety – any account that has social media campaigns running has had input from me.

What was your first account/assignment at RSE: A social media campaign for JACO. (Who knew a refrigerator recycling blog could be so successful!)

Most memorable logo/ad/pr campaign: Many will grimace, but I love this line: “No, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night!” (I think I hate you).

First thing you notice about people: If they make good eye contact with you or not.

What is on your mouse pad? Tabasco – the logo, not like I spilled on it. (No, that would have been Kat spilling).

Craziest/coolest thing you’ve ever done for a client: Created and executed refrigerator museums from scratch in New York and Boston.

If money and time weren’t issues, what passion would you pursue? Feeding people and rescuing pit bulls.

Where do you call home? Anywhere my family is.

What is the farthest you’ve been from home? China

I heart ________________ family, friends and pupsters. (And always abiding by the law).

What is the best Halloween costume you’ve ever worn? In 5th grade, I created a white tiger costume, complete with mask from the Oakland Zoo.

Where do you get your news? Capital Public Radio, AP, Sacbee, Sac Press and Twitter.

You have a 10 minute speech to give at a high school. What is it about? Don’t get caught up on the small stuff. And everything you tweet is saved in the Library of Congress. (Love the irony).

What is the last movie that made you cry? The Help (Amen!)

One brand you can’t live without: Does REI count?

Who inspires you? My mom… and Michelle Obama.

What is your proudest moment? Winning a car…. so far. Is that sad?

Never have I ever _______________ (or have you?) Won anything… oh wait. (SMH… I won’t even comment on this).
