RSE Celebrates Big Wins on CDPH Work

Around here, there is no greater feeling than when hard work pays off. Recently, we have been showered with honors for the 2016 and 2017 creative social marketing work we did on behalf of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) initiative to combat childhood obesity – and we’re excited about it!

RSE was the marketing/communications contractor for CDPH’s Nutrition Education Obesity Prevention Branch for 14 years. Messages in the federally funded campaign have focused on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity as preventative measures, while encouraging low-income mothers to support and lead their families to healthy lives. Our creative work in 2016 and 2017 focused on small steps each family could take through presentation of colorful images and quick tips to eat better, play better and refresh better.

In October 2017, we were presented with a California Capital Chapter, Public Relations Society of America influence award for our 2016 Champions for Change Be Better campaign launch event. We also received a merit award for CDPH’s Champions for Change Be Better Field Guide.

Also in October came a gold award for 2017 work from the International Association of Marketing and Communications (MarCom) Professionals, including contestants from dozens of countries, which spotlights “excellence in marketing and communication while recognizing creativity, hard work and generosity of industry professionals.”  Each year, about 6,000 print and digital entries are submitted.

Next came word of another gold award, this time from the International GALAXY Awards Competition, which honors outstanding achievement in product and service marketing. Judging is carried out by peers in the profession, based on the values of creativity, clarity, effectiveness, and innovation.

Through our years with CDPH, we were recognized repeatedly for our collaborative efforts on the campaign. Below are some of our other recent acknowledgements for the work we did in 2016:

    • • Academy Interactive and Digital Arts, international organization, Champions for Change Be Better advertising campaign, honorable distinction.

    • • National Public Health Information Coalition, Champions for Change Be Better campaign, honorable mention.

    • • Sacramento Ad Club, Addy Awards, Champions for Change Be Better launch event, gold award.
