The United Football League has drafted Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn, Inc. (RS&E) for a pre-season campaign drive ahead of its first season in Sacramento. The work will include advertising, public relations, community outreach and developing a team presence through social media.
The team, which played two home games in San Francisco and one in San Jose as the California Redwoods during the 2009 UFL Premiere season, will relocate to Sacramento for all five 2010 UFL home games. RS&E was approached by the team last month.
Led by Head Coach and General Manager Dennis Green, the team will play at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State University when the new season kicks off in September.
RS&E's place on the UFL roster puts the Sacramento native in charge of putting ticket sales through the uprights. Hired after a competitive process, the agency brings the UFL account extensive experience with the Sacramento River Cats and the Golden State Warriors. The campaign kicked off March 3 with a successful press conference at The Citizen Hotel featuring Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and major players behind the team.
The UFL is now inviting football fans to suggest their favorite name for the Sacramento team and announced a "Your Town, Your Team, Your Name - You Make The Call" promotion running in association with Northern California's Sports Station KHTK 1140 AM. Fans can visit the official league Web site www.UFL-Football.com to take part in the naming contest.
About The UFL: The UFL was developed to fulfill the needs of football fans in major markets currently under-served by professional football by providing a high quality traditional football league comprised of world class professional football players. Keep Your Wits Campaign Fights Misinformation About Rape
An integrated RS&E advertising, online and social media campaign is successfully generating higher awareness of a frightening increase in sexual assaults by educating women - and men - about who most rapists really are, and how most rapes actually happen.
Developed for WEAVE (Women Escaping a Violent Environment) in late 2009, the Keep Your Wits campaign includes four television advertisements, a Web site (www.keepyourwits.org) and social media outreach through Facebook and YouTube.
The essential goal was to inform women that 75 percent of sexual assault victims know their rapist through a casual meeting at a party, bar or through a friend. Alcohol or drugs are almost always involved, and women are actually in more danger of being sexually assaulted by someone they recognize or know.
At the same time, the campaign educated men that if they are using alcohol or drugs to render women defenseless against unwanted sexual activity, they are in fact committing a rape. WEAVE engaged RS&E after a nearly 20 percent increase in sexual assault reports within a year.
The television advertisements took a dramatic departure from more traditional public service announcements, directly attacking common misperceptions about rape among both genders. One featured a criminal line up of three threatening looking men, then switches to show a neighbor, teacher and co-worker as actual rape suspects instead.
The numbers show that the campaign is getting people's attention, and hopefully making a difference. Since its launch, the Keep Your Wits campaign has:
- Made www.keepyourwits.org the second highest referring site back to WEAVE's main Web site, attracting 235 visitors, 70 percent of whom are new to WEAVE's main site;
- Generated 34 direct referrals through the campaign's presence on FaceBook along with 72 new Facebook fans for WEAVE and 96 new members of the organization's Cause page;
- Attracted 651 channel views on YouTube, with 1,135 video views; and
- Through an e-mail blast that announced the campaign, resulted in a $5,000 anonymous donation to WEAVE.
